My Story

The life event which sparked my lifelong desire to help people feel better in their bodies took place in my early 20s. I have always been athletic, and one of my most favorite things to do is enjoy various outdoor activities like biking, hiking, and snowboarding.

Therefore I was devastated by the Years of excruciating pain in my left leg. It left me limping in pain and helpless to live my life in an independent, productive or joyful way. I found myself at a point where I could not envision living like that for another day longer.

A herniated disk in my spine and my sciatic nerve’s subsequent impingement was the root cause of my pain and physical impairment. No physical therapy attempts or conventional conservative (non-invasive) medical approaches yielded betterment for two full years.

The doctors finally recommended surgery for my back. After surgery, the medical prognosis did not give me a clear path to get back to my beloved physical activities. In fact, the doctors were rather doubtful if I would ever be able to be pain free. Instead, I was released with a few physical therapy sessions and left to go on independently.

At that moment, I knew I had to find a way to take my body’s recovery into my own hands. It was a pivotal moment in my life that set the stage for my life’s calling.

I started studying Sports Science, embarking on a healing journey by passionately studying the human movement anatomy and its biomechanics. My work with professional athletes taught me many lessons I believe are just as valuable and applicable to anybody serious about changing aspects of their lives.

From there, my journey quickly led me to the ancient art of Yoga, which became the focus and calling of my life. I learned about the mind-body connection, the power of meditation, and how introspection helps us see with clarity. As someone who feels deeply, I found that with understanding and conscious awareness, we not only have the power to get out of physical pain but to transform our mind, our emotions, and how we view and experience our life.

Almost three decades later, I have proven my doctors wrong and have shared what I learned in more than 12000 classes on different continents, empowering people to live with less pain and more joy.
